Moong daal kichdi

1 cup        moong daal
1 cup        rice

For tempering:
2 tbspn        oil
1 tspn          mustard seeds
1 tspn          cumin seeds
few              curry leaves
3                  dry red chillies
a pinch        asafoetida 
1/2 tspn       pepper powder
1/2 tspn       turmeric powder
to taste        salt
1 tbspn         ghee

  • Wash the daal and rice together , drain the water completely, keep aside
  • Take some oil in the pressure cooker. Once oil is hot, add mustard n cumin seeds allow to crackle, add red chillies, curry leaves, asafoetida, pepper powder, turmeric powder. Quick stir and add the drained rice n moong daal. Fry the rice nicely on medium flame for 2 mins. Add salt
  • Pour about 5 cups of water 
  • Pressure cook till 3 whistles. Turn off
  • Add ghee after opening the lid
      Cooking time: 20 mins
