Ingredients:
onions, cut in length : 2
tomatoes : 1
garlic : 3-4 cloves
ginger : small piece
salt to tast
oil for frying : 2-3 tbspn
green chilly : 3
tamarind : 1 small marble size
jaggery : 1 tbspn
roasted channa dal(putani) : 3 tbspn
for tempering : mustard, cumin , curry leaves and oil.
Method:
- Slightly roast the roasted channa daal(putani) and keep aside
- Heat oil in a skillet. Add onions, garlic, ginger, chilli n saute till onions turn slightly brown
- then add tomato n sauté till soft.
- turn off and let the mixture cool down
- take the cooled mixture along with rest of the ingredients (tamarind, jaggery, salt and roasted channa dal) in a mixer jar. grind all to a smooth paste without water
- prepare seasoning of mustard, cumin, curry leaves in oil. add to chutney
- Makes a great combination with dosa's and Idli's
